The record earlier belonged to Chris Gayle, who named 2061 runs after he completed 50 matches in the IPL. The record had stood tall for 13 years, dating back to a time when Sudharsan was just 11 years old. Mitchell Marsh sits third on the list with 1933 runs after 50 innings.

Meanwhile, PBKS struggled at 47-5 in the 9th over before Suryansh Shedge marked hi maiden IPL half century surfing the Kings to a total of 163-9 which was eventually overtaken by GT on the penultimate ball of the match.
