As the ICC T20 World Cup approaches, the highly anticipated India vs Pakistan clash in the US has sparked immense excitement. However, the surge in ticket prices, particularly on resale platforms like StubHub and SeatGeek, has created apprehension among fans.

Two of India’s matches, including the marquee clash against Pakistan on June 9 in New York and another against Canada on June 15 in Florida, have already sold out. Resale prices for these tickets have skyrocketed to more than double their original values, with some reaching an astonishing INR 1.86 crore.

In the initial ticket sale phase facilitated by the ICC website, prices ranged from a minimum of INR 497 to a maximum of INR 33,148, excluding taxes. The ICC had explicitly stated that no additional fees beyond specified taxes would be imposed. However, on resale platforms, VIP ticket prices have surged close to ₹33.15 lakh. Considering platform fees, the total cost could escalate to around ₹41.44 lakh. StubHub offers the cheapest ticket for the India vs Pakistan match at ₹1.04 lakh, while SeatGeek lists the most expensive ticket at ₹1.86 crore, including platform fees.

Notably, these prices exceed thrice the highest-priced ticket in the secondary market for the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup clash between India and Pakistan. Viagogo, a prominent secondary marketplace, displayed the most expensive ticket for that game at ₹57.15 lakh.

Phase 1 of the 2024 T20 World Cup ticket sales commenced on February 22 after a public ballot window. Within a mere 10 days, these tickets have flooded the resale market. The escalating demand, especially for the high-stakes India vs Pakistan encounter, has led to exorbitant prices, rivaling top-tier sporting events like the NBA or Major League Baseball.

As cricket enthusiasts gear up for this monumental clash, the unprecedented ticket prices underscore the unparalleled excitement and fervor surrounding the India vs Pakistan fixture on the global cricket stage.
