The Indian men’s cricket team had a minor setback before the start of its Asian Games 2026 journey to Japan’s Aichi-Nagoya, as some of them still await kits to reach them which are of the correct size.
The team, led by Shreyas Iyer, will depart from India at early hours of Sunday. Though most of the sizing problems seem to have been addressed, a few have yet to receive replacement kits after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and JSW Inspire (the kit supplier under the banner of Indian Olympic Association (IOA)) hit a sour spot in their disagreement.
According to the IOA source, he and his team have dwelt with most of the issues and the remaining kits were to be given to the players soon. The source further said that the problem was due to two sets of jerseys being required.
The source said there was a sizing issue in cricketer packs and most of the packs are corrected now, but there are still a few which would be handed over this week to the team.
Indian team is wearing two jerseys during their tour to Japan. The cast will play a one-off T20I against the blinds of Japan on September 22, where they will be still in their normal India outfit.
Both of the teams will wear the Asian Games playing jersey as the starts of the crickets is on September 28. Iyer is spearheading a bid of Indian men’s team to make an impact in the continental tournament.
The issue with the kit is expected to get sorted out prior to the tournament and then the focus should shift on to preparations for T20I clash with Japan and the upcoming campaign at Asian Games.
