In the second T20I against West Indies at JSCA International Stadium Complex, Ranchi, India got a flying start with 127/1 after a aggressive attack on the opposition at 10 overs with partnership from two key batsmen Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan.

The Men in Blue were off to a promising start coming into the contest after their confident eight-wicket win in the series opener in Lucknow. That would set the tone for the second game, which the Westies bowlers would find themselves under pressure from their batters.

As per the match account, Sanju Samson led the charge with an explosive half-century that matched the record of the fastest fifty by an Indian in the T20 internationals against West Indies. He took the India side on tracks for the scoring rate during powerplay and beyond.

With Abhishek Sharma out early and it did little to dampen the scoring as India suffered an early loss. Samson remained in tune with the boundaries, and kept the chasing target on the move.

Initially Ishhan Kishan played a supporting role in the duo, but then changed strategies. In the 10th over he knocked in 20 runs to put further pressure on the West Indies attack and get India past the 120-run mark in the first half of the innings.

India, leading by 127/1 in the 10-over-hit, were on to a big target at 127/1. The remaining batter were given a chance to build and run on the platform and quickened up the last 10 overs.

Now it is West Indies’ turn to form a break and try to keep India from securing a match-defining tally. A vital aim for the visitors will be to find that important wicket and make their bowling more compact, or they will lose the advantage of a first-half that belonged to the hosts.
