The INDIA Bloc in the Lok Sabha, which is headed by Congress President Mallikarjun Reddy and Congress Lok Sabha spokesperson leader Rahul Gandhi, is due to meet the President Droupadi Murmu at 8 pm on Friday to discuss its demand to oust Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. The gathering underway at a time of increased security in Delhi following calls for protests against the elections chief.

The meeting at Rashtrapati Bhavan will be attended by about 10 opposition leaders. Rahul Gandhi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, RJD chief Tejashwi Yadav, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee and CPI(M) chief MA Baby have been included in the list of those named in the schedule.

Delhi Metro is closing down entry and exit gates at 57 stations.

By 9 PM on saturday, 57 metro stations in the country will have their operations curtailed due to various security reasons till October 10, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, (DMRC) has stated.

Janpath, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Rajiv Chowk, New Delhi, Mandi House, ITO, Delhi Gate, Khan Market, Supreme Court, Indraprastha, INA, Hauz Khas, Kashmere Gate, Seelampur, Karol Bagh, Lajpat Nagar, Supreme Court, Indraprastha, Lajpat Nagar, INA and Jamia Masjid and Janpath) are the stations affected.

There are no plans to shut down the affected stations with the exception of one of them in metro New Delhi (Yellow Line). All the commuters have been urged to take official DMRC update before traveling.

There is Mobile Internet Suspension in Jantar Mantar.

The mobile internet services are also still to be suspended for a radius of four kilometres around the Janpath-Kartavya Path crossing from 10 pm on October 9 till 10 pm on 10 October, 2026, by the authorities.

The order comes out from the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) on the authority of the Union Home Secretary, according to the supplied information. All telecom companies including Airtel, Vodafone Idea, Jio and MTNL, have been told to roll out the measure for mobile internet technologies.

CJP Organises ‘Chalo Dilli’ Protest.
