Indias’ young talent Lakshya Sen sails into the Pre-QFs of the BWF World Championships with a straight win on Wednesday against Spains’ Luis Penalver. The CWG champion Sen made through the second round of the match at 21-17 21-10, taking 72 minutes to reach the next round.
As the event began, Sen trailed 3-4 and later took the lead at 13-7 and comfortably stayed ahead in the race wrapping up the game with a victory by a bigger margin. Sen enjoyed the massive nine point lead at one stage of the second game.
Kidambi Srikanth suffered an early exit from the BWF World Championships 2022 in Tokyo as the star Indian shuttler was ousted in the men’s singles second round on Wednesday. The 12th seeded player lost to China’s unseeded shuttler Zhao Jun Peng.
This is Srikanth’s 2nd defeat in 3 matches to Zhao Jun Peng, World No. 23, a loss at All England Championships in 2017. Srikanth struggled against the left-hander, who mixed deception and aggression wonderfully well.
Srikanth struggled to get into any kind of rhythm as the Indian shuttler lost the opening game in just 12 minutes. The winner of the Thomas Cup Gold medal tried to come up with a better show in the second game but it was not enough to stop Zhao’s charge.
