BCCI has big plans for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, urges youngster to follow Sachin Tendulkar’s footsteps

The 15-year-old sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has only made five appearances in international cricket, yet he grabbed the eye of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The left-handed batsman got his selection for India soon after delivering a sensational performance in last year’s IPL 2026 with Rajasthan Royals. Sooryavanshi registered 776 runs in the tournament and picked up individual awards for his efforts and effort in win his Orange Cap award and collect several individual awards during the tournament.

Internationally this time was not a success. The youngster had three low-scores outings against England and was not part of the T20I playing XI for his fifth and last game.

During India’s Zimbabwe tour, Sooryavanshi bounced back with his reply. The teenager rallied with over 200 runs on the night of the series earning him the Player of the Series accolade.

Presently, Sooryavanshi is vice-captain of East Zone team in the Duleep Trophy and has now got a significant nod from BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia.

Saikia said that the BCCI were keeping a close watch on the youngster, and wished to see him make a long and successful international career, like that of the great Indians like Sachin Tendulkar.

“We want people like him, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, to continue and act similar to Sachin Tendulkar’s role with the team or other players who have achieved stardom in the past and have done good things for the country.”

BCCI is closely monitoring Sooryavanshi’s progress and his path towards the international arena, he added.
