India had a good beginning of Day 6 at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games to improve its overall medal count to 19 confirm with a gold and a silver medal in the shooting.
It was a match of Suruchi and Kamaljeet in their final of 10m air pistol mixed team which won gold and has also created a new Asian record. They helped India clinch another top shoot in the shooting competition.
India also won the silver in the men’s 50m rifle team event (3 positions). Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Niraj Kumar and Rudrankksh Patil finished second and grabbed a medal for the nation.
Other Indians athletes and teams also made sure that more medals were coming in. Diya Chitale and Manush Shah clinched a podium spot in mixed doubles table tennis, pledging at least a medal in the mixed doubles category for the Indian team.
Joshana Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar went on to the semi-finals of mixed doubles squash to guarantee them at least a bronze. Anahat Singh advanced to the women’s singles semi-finals with a 3-0 victory over Tanvi Sharma in the quarterfinals.
India women’s hockey squad opened their Olympic bookings with a 3-1 victory against Pool B champions, Japan. The women’s kabaddi team also made it to the finals of the gold medal match after defeating Nepal in the semi final on 2nd day.
Day 6 of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2010 has further bolstered India’s medal business as we have secured several medals and several Indian athletes will enter the finals.
