Ishan Kishan scored 80 runs without losing his wicket in the semi-final victory of India over Sri Lanka in the Asian Games 2026 men’s singles cricket competition, to take the country to a summit clash with Pakistan.
Batting first at Korogi Sports Park, India posted 169/7 in their allotted overs. Kishan also got in the middle with an unbeaten 80 off 46 balls, providing the reply with five sixes and four four hits for the Indian squad.
India tapped a good early shot, into the, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who broke 38 with 21 deliveries. His attacking side was to give India the lead in the early part of the game before the Sri Lankan bowlers were able to hold the South Asians in check in the middle.
Then it was Kishan’s turn to take a spin at the wicket and India managed to secure a competitive score. His unbeaten knock was the doing of what has been a regular occurrence in New India’s march against wickets.
Sri Lanka then tried to snatch a few runs from India’s weight hurley, but in the end, they ended in a record deficit of just 45 runs. The chase failed to take off as India bowlers’ quick bats started to besiege the Sri Lankan side continuously.
Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel and Abhishek Sharma picked up 2 wickets each and did a splendid job in collapsing the Sri Lanka batting line up. The Indian bowlers haved curtailed the opposition’s one of the poorest efforts on the turf during the match.
India won 124 runs from their next game to qualify for the final of the Asian Games with Pakistan. This top clash will be another story to play with gold on the line between the two teams.
But it was an unbeaten 80 run run-up from Kishan in the semi-final that secured India’s place in the gold-medal race in men’s cricket.
