Ambala: Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi began their last mile effort for the upcoming Haryana elections with Haryana Vijay Sankalp Yatra. The rally began from Ambala’s Naraingarh, the hometown of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.
Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that Rahul Gandhi is becoming the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha for the INDIA bloc and a ‘shadow prime minister’ in the parliamentary system. Jairam Ramesh asserted that going forwards the INDIA bloc has to be further strengthened and an agenda has to be set.
Rahul Gandhi potrayed a strong image of opposition through Haryana Vijay Sankalp Yatra. “In a parliamentary system, the LoO is a shadow prime minister. It is obviously he has tremendous responsibilities to function and he already has very significant impact on both Parliament and outside”, reacted Jairam Ramesh on being asked if Rahul Gandhi can be a prime minister.
While sharing the schedule of his programme, Rahul Gandhi said that the second leg of the poll campaign from Naraingarh in Ambala district began with addressing a public meeting. Further, the yatra passed through Yamunanagar district and then through Mullana in Ambala. It also passed through Rajeev Chowk, Saha, Ambala, Shaheed Udham Singh Chowk, Shahabad, and Babain, Ladwa in Kurukshetra, where party workers will welcome Gandhi at various points. The yatra ended at Thanesar of Kurukshetra. Local Congress candidates and former minister Ashok Arora said that both the leaders will address a massive rally in Sector 10.
All 90 seats in the state will go to the polls in a single phase on October 5, the results of which will be announced on October 8. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has been fielded by the ruling BJP from Ladwa.
While addressing a huge public gathering in Thanesar, Haryana, Priyanka Gandhi assured that farmers, labourers, and poor in Haryana will benefit as the government of Congress will soon come in power in the state.
