Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly election dates 2024: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday, October 15, announced the dates for the Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly polls 2024. Maharashtra will go to polls on November 20, while polling will be held in two phases in Jharkhand on November 13 and November 20. The counting of votes will be held on November 23.
Rajiv Kumar said the date of issue of Gazette notification for the Maharashtra assembly election is October 22, last date of filing nominations is October 29, the date for scrutiny of nominations will be October 30 and the last date for withdrawal of candidatures is November 4.
Some opposition parties in Maharashtra had sought a multi-phase election in the state. However, as the ECI announced a single-phase poll, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut, “We appeal EC to not to let Maharashtra election to become like Haryana election…money game might take place…if Election Commission considers themselves unbiased, we don’t though, they will have to take care of all these things…EVM is not full proof…no matter what govt will change. This unconstitutional govt that was formed with the support of PM Modi, Amit Shah and the Supreme Court, will change…”
Congress leader Imran Pratapgarhi said, ” The (state) govt has been given enough time to deal with their business and to make election announcements as well and dates have been announced at the last moment. MVA is fully prepared and BJP knows that they won’t get anything in Maharashtra and MVA is going to form govt with a huge majority…”
