On Sunday, Sandeep Pathak, the MP of Rajya Sabha, told reporters that he had not been able to get any official communication as to the reports of the two FIRs being registered against him in Punjab. His utterance comes in the middle of claims that cases have been filed under non-bailable provisions ever since he left the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

In response to the media reports, Pathak claimed that he learned about the so-called FIRs through the media. The TV channels are reporting two FIRs lodged against me, but I have never received any such information up to now. I was waiting to get a copy of the FIR so that I could respond.

Pathak, a recent addition to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), opined that the cases might be political in nature. It would not be new to hear that any FIR against me has been filed due to the misuse of political power. All those who have dealt with me have known that I am a person who works with integrity.

Sources cited that, shortly after Pathak left AAP, two FIRs were registered within Punjab. Although the information regarding the charges is not quite clear, authorities pointed out that they constitute non-bailable sections. It was also reported by government sources that the Punjab Police is also trying to arrest the accused.

Amid the reports on Saturday, Pathak was spotted leaving his house in Delhi without informing the media. This has brought about political speculation, as the date when the alleged cases occurred coincided with his change of party allegiance.

The Punjab Police have yet to issue a formal statement verifying the FIRs. Additional information is still awaited since the case is still playing out.
