The Prime Minister talked on the issue of protests in the NDA Parliamentary Party’s Mangal Milan meeting, during which Union Minister Kiren Rijiju conveyed the Prime Minister’s message urging the most stringent action against those involved in the NEET paper leak. Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has placed five demands on the Centre as the agitation over the alleged NEET paper leak and police action in Delhi has intensified pressure on the Centre.
The Congress leader told the media that the exam issue is politically coming at Amit Shah and Dharmendra Pradhan, thus pressuring the two ministers to resign.
Rahul Gandhi has also called for prompt action against policemen who used force on student protesters during the day’s protests on Monday. He called for cancellation of all cases filed on students after the clashes by the government.
The other major demand from the protesters was a public apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the police violence against the protesters. Gandhi has also demanded that it be discussed in detail in Parliament in the ongoing Monsoon Session.
His fifth demand is comprehensive education examination reforms, which demands urgent steps to stop paper leakage and restore the trust of exam system in India.
The government, on one hand, says it is ready to have a detailed discussion about the NEET paper leak in Parliament, and on the other, insists that the demand for resignation of the Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, is “politically motivated.”
The protests by the students have gone on for the third day, with the examination conundrum becoming the focal point of the political discourse of the nation.
