In a major twist, the Punjab Congress has replaced Bhupesh Baghel with Sachin Pilot as the AICC general secretary in charge of the state and reassigned Baghel to Assam.
Several AICC general secretaries and in-charges of states were reassigned with immediate effect, according to a press release issued by AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal.
Randeep Singh Surjewala has been appointed AICC general secretary in charge of Gujarat and will also hold additional responsibility as AICC general secretary in charge of Karnataka.
The party has also appointed Sukhdeo Bhagat as AICC general secretary in charge of Chhattisgarh, Dr Sirivella Prasad as AICC general secretary in charge of Maharashtra and P V Mohan as AICC general secretary in charge of Andhra Pradesh.
The Congress also expressed its appreciation for the contributions of outgoing AICC general secretaries in charge of states, Jitendra Singh, Ramesh Chennithala and Manickam Tagore. Mukul Wasnik will continue as AICC general secretary.
