IMD has predicted heavy rainfall at isolated locations in various parts of India on Sunday, September 6 as the monsoon continues to be active in most parts of the country.
Heavy rains are likely in Telangana, areas of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. There is also a possibility of continued threat for areas to the east and northeast of the weather system namely Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura will remain under alert. Heavy showers can be expected in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim as well.
On Sunday, the weather is forecast to be generally cloudy with moderate rains in Delhi. The IMD has sent out a “yellow alert” for the national capital Gurgaon, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Noida, but no coloured warning has been sent to the rest of the country.
The forecast is after the city witnessed heavy rain for last two days that has led to waterlogging in various parts of Delhi-NCR. Friday and Saturday saw a significant plight for the citizens of Gurugram, where traffic jams and congestion with long vehicular queues were experienced.
Expecting to have just rain is not likely to be the only weather issue. Thunderstorms, lightning and gale force winds are possible over different parts of the country. In Bihar, East Madhya Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Gangetic West Bengal, Jammu Kashmir, Ladakh, Karnataka and parts of Rajasthan winds of 30-40 kmph could occur at isolated locations.
There may be more thunderstorms in the region of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal with lightning and gusty wind at isolated places with speed of 40-50 kmph.
The rainfall forecast in IMD has also been predicted to be fairly broad based in the state of Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi. Widespread rainfall is expected over West Uttar Pradesh on Sunday and over East Uttar Pradesh 6-8 Sept may experience same type of rainfall and isolated heavy showers as well. Heavy rain will occur at isolated places in East Rajasthan on Sunday as well.
