Addressing the Lakhpati Didi Sammelan in Jalgaon, Maharashtra, PM Modi underlined that protection and respect for women is a key focus of the nation. He again voiced his resolve to do something on this front and vowed, “But alongside this, the safety of our mothers, sisters, and daughters is the priority of the nation Meanwhile, this issue has been highlighted by me time and again from the Red Fort The pain and anger my sisters and daughters in any state of the country are understandable to me. ”
They all appealed to all political parties and state governments to come down heavily on crimes against woman. “I will again convey this message to all the political parties of the country and all the state governments that crime against women is an unforgivable sin and whoever is involved should not be spared,” Modi said. He even pointed out that the person who assists in committing those crimes should also be made to suffer the consequences. He added that whether it is a hospital, school, government, or police system, whether the negligence is at the top level or at the bottom, everyone should be held accountable, and “the message should go very clearly from the top to the bottom; this sin is unpardonable. ”
Modi said this in the wake of the increasing outrage by women after a 31-year-old postgraduate trainee doctor was raped and murdered at the RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata. It contained grave injury marks; he was found dead in the seminar hall of the chest department of the hospital on 9 August in the morning. The news aroused protests all over the country.
