In a significant development, the Opposition-led INDIA bloc has decided to boycott television shows moderated by specific news anchors, as announced by the sub-committee on media. The decision was made during the coordination committee meeting, attended by prominent leaders from various political parties, including Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav of RJD, TR Baalu from DMK, KC Venugopal, Congress General Secretary in-charge of Organisation, Raghav Chadha from AAP, Sanjay Raut representing Shiv Sena, and Mehbooba Mufti, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting took place at the residence of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Chief Sharad Pawar.
The coordination committee empowered the sub-group on media to compile a list of news anchors whose shows will no longer feature representatives from INDIA bloc parties. This decision reflects the Opposition’s growing concerns regarding media coverage and the role of specific news anchors in shaping public opinion.
Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal stated, “The coordination committee authorized the sub-group on media to decide upon the names of the anchors on whose shows none of the INDIA parties will send their representatives.” The move underscores the Opposition’s commitment to addressing issues related to media coverage and its perceived bias in certain quarters.
This decision adds a new dimension to the ongoing discourse surrounding media ethics and political engagement, with opposition parties taking a unified stand against what they perceive as biased reporting and coverage by select news anchors.
