New Delhi: India recorded 6,358 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 98.40 per cent accounted for 6,450 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,42,43,945. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.61 less than 2% for last 85 days.
The number of active cases stood at 75,456 accounting for 0.22 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline by 385 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.38 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 293 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,80,290.
The Omicron tally for India reached 653, putting the authorities under pressure. Across the 21 states and UTs, nearly 186 people have recovered from the potentially transmissible variant, the health ministry informed today. The current statistics purged Maharashtra ahead with 167 case which is followed by Delhi at 165, Kerala 57, Telangana 55, Gujarat 49 and Rajasthan 46.
The centre on Monday, advised the poll bound states to ramp up vaccination. There should be strict Enforcement of Covid-appropriate behaviour and testing should be “exponentially accelerated” to curb any sudden surge of the virus, the government said amid a court’s demand that the election be pushed back in view of the threat from the highly contagious Covid strain Omicron.
As per the statistics reported to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, so far 142.47crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country including 72.87 lakh doses given in the last 24 hours.
