Navi Mumbai police claimed to have cracked 35 cases of burglary in the town and neighbouring Mumbai with the arrest of a man here in Maharashtra. Stolen items worth Rs 13.22 lakh were also recovered from the accused after his arrest on Sunday, according to Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Bipin Kumar Singh.
Following several reports of housebreaking and theft in Navi Mumbai Township, police increased their patrols. According to the official, the police set up a trap and apprehended the accused in the Taloja area on Sunday after receiving a tip. With the man’s arrest, the police have solved 31 burglary cases in Navi Mumbai and 4 in Mumbai, he said.
According to the police, these incidents occurred in Taloja, Kharghar, Nerul, Panvel, Rabale, Koparkhairne, and Belapur in Navi Mumbai, as well as Sion, Matunga, and Govandi in Mumbai. According to the official, CCTV footage from various burgled shops revealed a similar mode of operation, which led the police to the accused. He also stated that the accused was involved in theft at an ATM and a cooperative bank branch and that the police were looking for one of his associates.
