NEW DELHI: A day prior to the conclusion of his CBI custody, Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party’s leader Manish Sisodia has filed a bail plea in the Rouse Avenue Court in the national capital. The bail plea will be heard on Saturday 4th March, when his five-day CBI custody ends.

Sisodia had even moved the SC on Feb 28th. However, the apex court refused to entertain his plea and directed him to move to the High Court.

Meanwhile, the AAP has been staging nationwide protests in many states against the arrest of Sisodia. The party maintained that he was targeted and this is done by the BJP to divert public attention from the ongoing Adani Group row.

The CBI arrested Sisodia on Sunday, 26th February and sought five days of police custody. The investigating agency cited that Sisodia was not cooperating with the investigation and not revealing facts. He is accused of alleged corruption in the now-withdrawn liquor policy of Delhi. Sisodia was arrested under IPC Section 120B (criminal conspiracy), IPC Section 477 (account falsification), and the Prevention of Corruption Act.

It is worth noting that Sisodia resigned from his post along with Delhi minister Satyendar Jain after the arrest.
