New Delhi: India recorded 40,134 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry reported. The recovery rate at 97.35 per cent accounted for 36,946 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,08,57,467. The daily positivity rate stood at 2.81 per cent, less than 5 per cent.
The active caseload stands at 4,13,718 accounting for 1.31 per cent of the total number of cases. 2,766 active cases were reported in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.34 per cent reported 422 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,24,47,73.
The Tamil Nadu government has mandated a negative RT-PCR test report or vaccination certificate of two Covid doses from August 5 for people visiting the state from Kerala. Tamil Nadu reported 1,990 fresh Covid cases today and 26 deaths. With 832 Covid cases, Manipur leads the north-eastern states in most cases in a day. It also reported 10 deaths.
Over 47.22 crore beneficiaries have been immunized against the novel virus. In the past 24 hours 17,06,598 individuals were vaccinated under the nationwide vaccination program.
