The India Meteorological Department (IMD) increased the alertness for India’s national capital [Delhi] on Thursday following heavy rainfall in various parts of the city that raised relief from the humid days, but left numerous low-lying areas such as Munirka water logged, including the city’s slums. The weather department has made all indications of cloudy weather, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds in all the areas during the day.

Delhi bracing for light to moderate rainfall and gusty wind speed of up to 50 kmph, temperatures are also likely to stay below normal, IMD says. In the meantime, Mumbai is dealing with disruptions caused by the monsoon as a few areas in the city still experience waterlogging and transport problems due to heavy showers in recent days.

The weather department has further issued isolated weather waves over Madhya Pradesh’s Chhattisgarh and East Rajasthan in the future days. Heavy rains are forecasted over many North and eastern parts of the country including the states of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Sikkim.

Wewel advises residents who have been warned in affected areas to be alert for more heavy rains, thunderstorms and strong winds in the coming days.
