New Delhi: Air India flight (AI173) from Delhi to San Francisco had to return due to a technical fault. After being in the air for 8 hours, the flight returned to Delhi. Due to safety reasons, the flight was brought back to Delhi and an emergency landing was made. There were 230 passengers on board the plane at the time of the incident. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning. An Air India spokesperson confirmed the incident. A technical investigation will be conducted.
According to reports, Air India’s Boeing 777-300 ER plane, flight number AI173, was traveling from Delhi to San Francisco. A technical fault was detected approximately eight hours after takeoff from Delhi. A hasty decision was made to return to Delhi. The plane was in Chinese airspace when the decision was made to divert back to Delhi.
The flight returned to Delhi after being airborne for eight hours. An emergency landing was made at Delhi’s IGI Airport. An Air India spokesperson issued a statement saying that flight AI173, flying from Delhi to San Francisco, was returned to Delhi due to a technical fault. This decision was taken in accordance with established safety regulations. The aircraft will undergo a technical inspection. Alternative arrangements are being made to ensure the passengers reach their destination quickly. Passengers are being provided with facilities such as refreshments, hotel accommodation, and rescheduling.
This isn’t the first time Air India has faced this issue. Air India’s situation has deteriorated significantly since the plane crash in Ahmedabad on June 12th last year. Its aircraft suffer from frequent technical problems. On March 19th, Air India flight AI185 from Delhi to Vancouver returned to Delhi after circling for eight hours.
