Delhi: The Headquarters of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Delhi has been sealed on Sunday after a staff associated with a senior official tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Earlier this morning, the Stenographer under Additional Director of CRPF, General Jawed Akhtar was tested positive for Covid-19.

Soon after the report came out, Jawed Akhtar along with 10 other personnel were asked to home-quarantine themselves. The authorities have begun contact-tracing of all the personnel who came in contact with the staffer at the headquarter building.

The force has informed the District Surveillance Officer of NDMC to initiate the required protocols as per the medical guidelines, for time-bound proper sealing of the building located in the CGO complex on Lodhi Road, PTI reported.

Meanwhile, the Headquarter building has been sealed for sanitisation until the task is completed and no officials working in the building will be allowed to enter the premises from Sunday until it becomes safe.

Earlier, a driver associated with CRPF was tested Covid-19 positive. So far, 144 CRPF personnel have tested positive – 135 from 31 Battalion in Delhi’s Mayur Vihar phase 3. The entire battalion has been sealed since then. Earlier, one CRPF personnel had succumbed to the disease while one recovered. The test results of at least 20 more personnel are still awaited.

Earlier, CRPF DG AP Maheshwari had spent 21 days in self-quarantine after coming in indirect contact with a patient. He was l later tested negative.
