INDIA: With a record 2,644 new cases reported in the last 24 hours the confirmed coronavirus cases in India has crossed the 40,000 mark. The tally of fatalities due to Covid-19 has gone up to 1,306 after 83 deaths were reported on Sunday. There are 10,887 recovered patients, with 40,263 confirmed cases, out of which 28,070 cases are the active ones.

Today, Maharashtra has reached 12,296 confirmed coronavirus cases, with 790 fresh cases reported in the State. There are 9,775 active cases with just 2000 recovered patients while its death toll is at 521.

Standing at second place in the country, Gujarat reported 5,054 cases with 262 deaths due to the virus.

With the third highest number of cases, Delhi follows the list with 2,802 active cases out of total 4,122 confirmed cases. 64 deaths have been reported in the UT till date.

However, according to the death toll, Madhya Pradesh stands at the third place in the list with 156 fatalities reported in the state. There are 2,846 Coronavirus cases in the state.

The other states following in the list with more than 1000 confirmed cases are Tamil Nadu (2,757), Rajasthan (2,770), Uttar Pradesh (2,487), Andhra Pradesh (1,583)and Telangana (1,063). West Bengal is approaching the thousand mark as 127 new cases and 12 deaths have been reported in the state with 922 confirmed cases.

States like Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir & Karnataka

are also affected by the virus with a continuous rise in the cases. However, Kerala along with some other north east states has been performing well in controlling the transmission in the state.

Meanwhile, the states with limited or zero infection cases are preparing to reopen in the third phase of lockdown with restrictions being eased by the state authorities as per the Centre’s order.
