INDIA: The coronavirus cases in India are increasing rapidly. More than 19 thousand people have been found positive in last three days in the country. According to the data released by the Health ministry on Sunday, India reported the highest-ever daily spike of 6,767 cases of Covid-19 as the total number of coronavirus cases nears to 1.32 lakh.

The total cases of coronavirus in India stands at 131868. The death toll in India due to the novel coronavirus pandemic has risen to 3,867 after 147 more fatalities were recorded. The number of recovered cases reached to 54,441 in the nation. The active cases in the country are claimed to be 73,560. India’s recovery rate stands at around 41.28% so far.

As expected, the returning migrant workers to their native places have pushed the Nation’s COVID-19 tally to a gruesome milestone , setting off alarm bells among various states. Sources said that lakhs of migrant workers had reached their native villages in the past few days on foot, on trucks and by own transport without being tested. Many doctors, police officers have also been tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Several people with no records of travelling abroad have also been reeled by this virus.

About 70% of India’s cases are emerging from 11 “municipal areas” in seven States: Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal and Rajasthan, the Ministry said in a statement.

Maharashtra continues to remain the worst-affected state in the country  followed by Tamil Nadu (15,512), Gujarat (13,664), and Delhi (12,910). Maharashtra has reported 47,190 confirmed cases of coronavirus with 13,404 cured cases and 1577 death cases. Mumbai has recorded over 28000 confirmed cases and 949 deaths alone.

The capital of the nation, Delhi has reported 12,910 confirmed cases of coronavirus along with 6,267 already recovered from coronavirus. The state has reported 231 deaths so far.  

Gujarat has recorded 13,664 confirmed cases of coronavirus with 6,169 discharged cases and 829 deaths. Karnataka has reported 1,959 confirmed cases of coronavirus. The state has announced 608 cured cases with 42 deaths.

Tamil Nadu has recently recorded 15,512 confirmed cases of coronavirus. Added to this, 7,491 patients have already been cured and the state reported 103 deaths till Sunday morning.

Although, the coronavirus cases in Chhattisgarh is comparatively low to other states but the escalating rate from past few days is quite alarming . The state has currently reported 216 cases of coronavirus including 64 cured patients. The state has not recorded any death reports so far.

After almost managing 4 months of coronavirus free tag since the first case emerged on January 30 , Sikkim reported its first COVID-19 case as a 25-year-old student who recently returned from Delhi tested positive for the virus.

India has issued a revised guideline for the use of Hydroxychloroquine(HCQ) as prophylaxis for COVID-19 infection. Till now, there are 214 adverse cases of the drug reaction that include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and cardio-vascular effects, 3 patients are to be reported to put on ECG. 

India has introduced several precautionary measures for fighting coronavirus. No vaccines have been confirmed yet. 

Globally, More than 52 lakh people have tested positive worldwide for the novel coronavirus ever since its emergence in China last December, while over 3.38 lakh have lost their lives. More than 20 lakh people have recovered globally so far.
