The investigation into the mysterious death of former model and actor Twisha Sharma has taken a significant turn in the current phase as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has started a comprehensive crime scene reconstruction at her home in Katara Hills, Bhopal. On Monday, the agency took Sharma’s husband, Samarth Singh, and mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, both of whom are in the CBI’s custody, to the house at the scene of the incident.
The team had CBI officers, forensic experts and crime experts who recreated the events that led to Sharma’s death on May 12. Investigators during the exercise recreated the events in which Sharma is said to have hanged herself using a life-sized mannequin with a weight of about Sharma’s.
Both Samarth and Giribala were questioned in detail by officials at the site, who had to show them what they have done after discovering Sharma. Investigators reportedly are concentrating on the timeline of events, and determining if the accused’s statements were consistent with physical evidence collected at the scene.
Samarth Singh told police in the original FIR that Twisha Sharma was found dead in AIIMS Bhopal at around 10.20pm and she had committed suicide. But hospital records showed that she had been taken dead to the hospital, leading to a medico-legal case.
The reconstruction exercise is likely to be a major factor in establishing whether the accused were telling the truth and if it was a suicide or there was foul play. The CBI are still probing the alleged dowry death case from various angles.
