In a major operation conducted today, the National Investigative Agency (NIA) detained five individuals during raids at 19 locations across four states, marking a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the ISIS network case. The targeted states included Karnataka, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, and Delhi, with 11, four, three, and one location raided in each respective state.

This recent crackdown follows last week’s extensive anti-terror operation by the central agency, where over 40 locations in Maharashtra were raided, leading to the arrest of 15 individuals. Among those apprehended was a key figure in an ISIS module, responsible for administering allegiance oaths to new recruits.

The NIA’s raids yielded substantial evidence, including large sums of unaccounted cash, weaponry, sharp implements, sensitive documents, and various digital devices. Officials stated that the detained individuals were part of a “highly radicalized jihadi terror group” operating under the guidance of “foreign handlers.” These individuals were actively engaged in carrying out terrorist activities within the country.

The revelation of foreign influence raises concerns about the extent of international connections in orchestrating terror activities on Indian soil. The NIA emphasized that the detained suspects were acting upon the directives of external entities, indicating a coordinated effort by foreign handlers to instigate and carry out acts of terror within India.

The scale and scope of these operations underscore the gravity of the threat posed by such networks, necessitating thorough investigations to dismantle and neutralize these elements. The recovered materials and information during these raids will likely play a crucial role in further understanding the modus operandi of the terror group and identifying additional individuals involved in these activities.

As the investigations progress, security agencies are expected to collaborate closely to thwart any potential threats posed by these networks and apprehend those responsible for planning and executing acts of terror within the country.
