At least four people died and several others are missing after a massive explosion ripped through a house where firecrackers were stored in Bihar’s Siwan district on Friday.

Rescue operations are underway as emergency forces arrived at the spot.

According to preliminary reports, the firecrackers stored inside the house-cum-firecracker unit belonged to local resident Muhammad Amiruddin Miyan, a firecracker trader. The stock caught fire, triggering a series of explosions.

Several people were reportedly present inside the house when the fire broke out. The flames spread to nearby firecracker storage premises, leading to repeated explosions in the densely populated area.

Visuals of the incident circulated on social media showed the front portion of the house collapsing due to the intensity of the blasts, with debris spilling onto the road.

The explosions continued intermittently for nearly two hours, triggering panic and chaos in the surrounding area.

According to locals, several people may have died. Some bodies were reportedly severely mutilated by the explosion, making identification difficult. However, the number of fatalities and the identities of the victims are yet to be officially confirmed.

Further details are awaited as the rescue operation continues.
