As the investigation into the murder of West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari’s aide deepens , the CBI arrested two BJP party workers in West Bengal, who were earlier in the Trinamool Congress. The two have been allegedly hiring shooters to shoot Suvendu Adhikari’s executive assistant, Chandranath Rath.
An official involved in the probe stated that the arrested men were earlier members of the TMC, later moved to the BJP, but were still in touch with some of the party members. “Investigations showed that he was in contact with the office of a rival political party via landline calls while working with Rath, the official said.”
The accused have been identified as two brothers, Sagar Sonkar and Sahil Sonkar, who were associates working with the deceased. They are likely to be produced before a special court in Kolkata, the official added.
Rath,assistant of West Bengal CM Suvendhu Adhikari was fatally shot by motorcycle-borne assailants while he was returning home after a party event near Madhyamgram in the North 24 Parganas district on May 6.
Earlier in June, a history-sheeter Gyanendra Pratap Singh wanted in this murder case was taken into custody after he surrendered before a court in Uttar Pradeshs, Ballia, amid ongoing search by the CBI.He was remanded to judicial custody in Mau jail. The CBI acted on a warrant from Barasat’s ACJM court. Officials took him from Mau jail to Kolkata.
