The ongoing controversy around Don 3 took a dramatic turn. According to sources, Ranveer Singh in an attempt to ease tensions with Filmmaker-actor Farhan Akhthar. In attempts to repair their personal relationship, the Dhurandhar star according to reports had expressed his willingness to collaborate on another film in the future and was open to working on a project that could be mutually agreed upon by both parties.
The report stated, “Ranveer offered to do another film, selected mutually by Farhan and Ranveer. Ranveer also offered to do a film with Farhan’s sister Zoya Akhtar, with whom he has done Gully Boy in the past.” It added, “The offer was made to both Farhan and his production partner Ritesh Sidhwani but was turned down immediately.”
However, the gesture was immediately turned down by the filmmaker and his team. Apparently, he had even offered to do a film which was agreed upon by Zoya Akhthar, sister of Farhan Akhthar.
The latest development comes just a day after reports suggested that Salman Khan had personally stepped in to help resolve the dispute between Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar.
According to those reports, Salman spoke to both parties and encouraged them to settle their differences amicably. The superstar reportedly urged them to think beyond individual disagreements and consider the larger interests of the film industry by getting Don 3 back on track. He is also said to have advised both sides to resolve the issue privately, without involving third parties or industry bodies.
Meanwhile, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees has written to major producer bodies, including the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association and the Producers Guild of India, seeking a collective action against a trend among actors who walk out of committed projects.
The move comes days after the Federation issued a non-cooperation directive against actor Ranveer Singh over his last minute walk out from Farhan Akhthar’ Don 3.
The letter signed by FWICE president BN Tiwari, the federation DOn 3 sitaution a part of the growing trend across the industry.
“…wishes to place on record its serious concern over the growing instances of substantial losses being incurred by producers owing to the last-minute withdrawal or backout of senior actors from committed projects without prior consultation, due intimation, or professional engagement with the concerned stakeholders, the letters are read.”
The federation has called for a joint meeting with producer bodies to formulate a comprehensive Standard Operating Procedure for handling such situations in the future.
