In the grand celebration of cinematic excellence at the 69th edition of the Filmfare Awards, the power couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt emerged as the shining stars, securing top accolades for their remarkable performances in movies released the previous year. The prestigious ceremony, held in Gujarat on Sunday, bestowed Ranbir Kapoor with the title of Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) for his compelling portrayal in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s controversial film, Animal. Simultaneously, Alia Bhatt earned the coveted trophy for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female) for her captivating performance in Karan Johar’s romantic family drama, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
Vidhu Vinod Chopra, recognized as the Best Director, received the honor for his outstanding work in the biographical drama, 12th Fail, which was also crowned Best Film. This triumph was against strong contenders like Animal, Jawan by Atlee Kumar, OMG 2 by Amit Rai, Pathaan by Siddharth Anand, and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Devashish Makhija’s thriller, Joram, clinched the Filmfare award for Best Film (Critics’), while Vikrant Massey (12th Fail), Rani Mukerji (Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway), and Shefali Shah (Three Of Us) were lauded by critics and took home the prestigious Black Lady for their exceptional performances.
