Looks like Ram Charan is back in the game after an underwhelming project Game Changer. Ram Charan starrer Peddi seems to have delivered what fans were waiting for. Peddi crossed the Rs 150 crore mark worldwide within just two days of its release.
After a blockbuster opening collection despite mixed reactions, Peddi in India collected Rs 26.90 crore net with 10,113 shows across. With this the total collection so far stands at Rs 114.29 crore. At the international market, the film grossed Rs 8 crore, taking its total gross collection to Rs 36 crore.
Filmmaker issues apology after facing backlash
Reacting to the backlash by fans on objectifying Janhvi Kapoor, film maker Buchi Babu Sana took to X on Saturday and apologised to fans. He clarified that it was never the team’s intention to objectify or disrespect any female character.
The filmmaker also revealed that they have decided to make changes to the concerned portions of the film following the feedback.
Despite the dip, the film continued its strong overall run and crossed a major milestone globally. The Telugu industry predominantly generated Rs 25 crore gross on Day 2 alone. Another southern state Karnataka contributed Rs 3.23 crore gross, while Tamil Nadu added Rs 70 lakh. Kerala generated Rs 7 lakh, with the rest of India contributing approximately Rs 3 crore gross.
According to analysts, the movie with minor flaws the movie cannot be dismissed because of its honest intent and strong social message. It is a film that repeatedly asks the viewer to relax the mind and listen to the heart, and when you do, it does not disappoint. In commercial cinema, serious issues are often sidelined, but this film keeps them at its centre.
