Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has again made her stand, sparking a new political debate for her attack on the Gen Z protesters who attended the recent sit-in at Jantar Mantar in Delhi and other cities.
In response to the posters and slogans being displayed during the protests, as well as social media content, Kangana Ranaut said that “the language and behaviours of the protesters are puke inducing.”
She went on several social media posts to criticize the students’ upbringing and to label them “cockroaches” because they looked and acted like one.
Ranaut also lashed out at women who took part in the protests, calling them “so-called westernised Indian women”. She claims that they promote drug use, do not value family money and have no traditional values.
In the interests of criticism, the BJP MP went ahead and coined the term “Generation Gutter” for the protesting youth. She said that many of them have little contribution to society, are not academically brilliant and were not even “capable of being homemakers”, as she put it.
There were soon political responses to these comments as Congress leader Bhai Jagtap asked if Ranaut had any concern in regard to the allegations of police action against students while protests were going on.
The protest was organized by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak and demands for accountability in the examination system.
This has since started an engaging debate on social media platforms, with people supporting her actions and detractors citing her as insulting and derogatory towards students protesting against the government.
