Christopher Nolan recorded the biggest opening of his career from Homer’s adaptation. The Odyssey has grossed an estimated $257.8 million.

As per the trend, the greek mythological surpassesed Nolan’s previous achievements of Oppenheimer and The Dark Knight Rises, setting a new benchmark. A Hollywood media reported The Odyssey earned around $125 million in North America, while internationally it minted approximately $132.8 million, taking its global total to $257.8 million.

Advance booking, sold out screenings and an overwhelming positive response from the audience has propelled the spectacular debut.

At the Indian box office, the Oscar winning film makers work collected Rs 22 crore net in India on Day 2, marking a 26.4% jump from its opening-day earnings of Rs 17.4 crore. Around 8700 theatres screened the movie nationwide. With this, the two day India net collection has reached Rs 39.4 crore, while its India gross stands at Rs 47.03 crore.

Fans were taken by surprise as the films cast greeted them at the premeire of the movie in Mumbai. Quirky moments and interactive session was reported during their visit. The Odyssey hit theatres on July 17 after receiving an ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification without any cuts.

Written and directed by Christopher Nolan, The Odyssey is based on Homer’s ancient Greek epic poem. The film stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, Tom Holland as Telemachus, Anne Hathaway as Penelope and Robert Pattinson as Antinous.

The story demonstrates the battles faced by King Odysseus as he embarks on a perilous journey home to Ithaca after the Trojan War, facing mythical creatures, dangerous challenges and impossible odds. Alongside the adventure, he discovers his conscience over victory from innocent blood.
