On Monday, NTA declared the final results of the JEE Main 2026 examination, which is a proud moment for the country as 26 students out of 2.34 million contenders have secured 100th percentile, obtaining full marks in one of the toughest entrance examinations in the world to become engineers.

From last year to this year, there has been a marginal increase in the number of students scoring perfectly well. Last year, 24 candidates obtained full marks, while this time the number increased to 26 students. All of the 12 students who scored 100 marks in NTA from the January session retained their “perfection” in the final list.

Participation Breakdown

This year saw unprecedented participation across both testing windows. The NTA provided a detailed breakdown of the 2,338,983 total aspirants:

  • Session 1 (January 21–29): 1,304,653 candidates appeared.
  • Session 2 (April 2–8): 1,034,330 candidates appeared.
  • Both Sessions: 800,516 candidates chose to sit for both exams to improve their scores.

The final NTA score was determined by taking the best of the two performances for those who appeared in both sessions, following the agency’s established normalization procedure.

The Road to JEE Advanced

Now that the results of JEE Main have been released, the ball is rolling for the next leg of the race. The top 2,50,000 performers from the test are now ready to apply for JEE Advanced, through which they can secure admission to the highly reputed IITs.

“The number of candidates who scored perfect marks along with the huge number of applicants speaks volumes about the growing ambition of the students in the nation,” an NTA spokesperson said. “The flawless administration of the examination in two attempts has made sure that the students had a fair chance of demonstrating their abilities.”

Meanwhile, as the cut-off marks for different categories are still under analysis, coaching centers in the nation have already started their celebrations.
