New Delhi: Despite controversies around the new marking system introduced by the Central Board of Secondary Education, officials as per reports are planning to continue the ‘newly re-introduced On Screen Marking System’ the next year. Sources in the know mentioned that the board is expected to take a final call after reviewing the process and feedback received this year- which so far doesn’t seem good.

“I am sure it will continue. CBSE will assess the entire process and try to ensure that no child is inconvenienced. All systems are continuously being strengthened and made better, said an insider on grounds of anonymity.”

Meanwhile, complains regarding discrepancies around the portal resurfaced. Students complained of inconsistencies such as answers recorded as blank pages, correct one mark MCQs marked with only 0.5 marks and other apparent marking anomalies.

A user sharing the screen shot of the evaluated answer book pages, said,” BACHHON NE Poore page ko likha hai fir bhi blank mark ? how @cbseindia29 i found these copies on reditt.”

Another student shared the instance of one‑mark objective questions (MCQs) being awarded 0.5 marks despite the response matching the official answer key.

Beside students, parents have also flagged issues with the new marking system.

The OSM system replaced the physical assessment method in an attempt to improvise the assessment process. The handwritten copies of the students would be scanned and evaluated on screen by respective staff. The re-evaluation process has been under the scanner ever since results are out.
