NTA in a student friendly announcement on Friday declared to improve candidates examination experience while maintaining fairness and security.

The agency stated to have extended the exam duration to 195 minutes by adding 15 minutes extra. Previously, the NEET Re-exam was scheduled from 2pm to 5pm. NTA said that the revised examination window will provide additional time for mandatory pre-examination formalities, including signing attendance sheets and other invigilation procedures because of which students genrerally fall short of time to complete their exam.

“The revised examination window has been designed to ensure that candidates are able to utilise the intended examination time without feeling that administrative procedures are taking away from their opportunity to attempt the paper,” the notice said.

Besides, the agency has also added 2 additional rough-work pages taking the total count to 4. With the increased number the students will be able to get extra space for calculations, diagrams and other workings during the examination. The placement of the rough-work pages has also been changes. Taking suggestions from student feedback, the rough pages will be immediately placed after the instruction page at the beginning of the booklet, another two pages will be pinned at the end of the booklet like before.

The revised lay out has been incorporated in both English and regional language versions of the question paper. Highlighting the rational behind the new format, the testing agency said the new format is intended to make the examination experience more comfortable for all candidates, particularly left-handed students, who account for 10% of the test takers.

NEET UG exam which was cancelled on May 3 on grounds of paper leak will be held at again on June 21.
