At least two people, including a woman and a child, were killed and 21 others injured in a road accident last night in Nepal’s Piuthan district. The injured included the driver and passengers, many of whom are residents of the Uttar Pradesh-Nepal border areas. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh per family for the deceased.
A 35-year-old woman and a 6-year-old girl were among 21 people injured in a road accident in Nepal’s Piuthan district, in which the driver died. The remaining 19 injured are being treated at Butwal Hospital.

The deceased have been identified as 35-year-old Nirmala and 6-year-old Kavya. All the injured have been admitted to a private hospital in Butwal. The injured include Sangeeta, Ramudaya, Lakshmi, Mansa, Pooja, Alok, Sheshnath, Preeti, Shivansh, Kritaki, Snehlata, Karan, Meera, Naresh, Ankit, Arvind, Sandhya, Ayush, and Durga.
Maharajganj District Magistrate Santosh Kumar Sharma said the accident occurred when a passenger bus suddenly lost control and fell into a ravine. He spoke with the Chief District Officer of Nepal’s Rupandehi district, after which the injured were admitted to Lumbini City Hospital in Butwal for treatment.
The District Magistrate immediately spoke with the Chief District Officer, Rupandehi, and the injured were admitted to Lumbini City Hospital. SDM Nautanwa, Naveen Prasad, was dispatched to the scene to assist with relief and rescue operations, while ADM (F/R) Sonauli is camping in Sonauli to ensure coordination with the Nepalese administration.
