Barabanki: In the town of Barabanki, a 60-year priest from the neighbourhood has been taken into custody on charges of assaulting a two-year-old girl. The incident occurred on Monday evening in the Gosaipurva area under the jurisdiction of Kotwali. At that time, the child’s mother was at home while her father was away in Lucknow for work.
As per information, the little girl was playing outside her house on Monday evening when a priest named Ashok Kumar Goswami, who worked as a figure in the village, enticed her and committed this horrendous act. Following this incident, Ashok locked his house. Ran away from the village. Afterwards, the family discovered their child covered in blood. Distraught with worry, they rushed her to the hospital for attention.
The family disclosed that Baba Ashok Goswami lived in their village and was known for conducting ceremonies and performing duties from house to house. He took advantage of this by taking the two-year-old daughter with him to his place.
There he assaulted her. After committing this crime locked his house and fled from the village. Concerned about their child’s absence, the family started searching for her within their community. The child was discovered in an injured state, covered in blood near the residence of the accused individual known as Baba.
The relatives of the victim quickly notified the police at Nagar Kotwali about what had happened. The priest, Ashok Kumar Goswami, has been apprehended in relation to this crime.
The traumatizing incident has sparked outrage, shedding light on the vulnerability of children and the imperative need for swift and stringent action against perpetrators of such heinous crimes. The child is currently undergoing medical treatment, and the family is grappling with the emotional aftermath of the appalling incident.
