Shahpur: Wanted man in a case pertaining to cow slaughter carrying a bounty of Rs 25,000 was arrested following an encounter said officials on Saturday. The accused along with his acquaintance were nabbed while they flee from a check point near Sahahpur turn on Janta road.
Behat Circle Officer pressing the media said that the accused were nabbed while fleeing towards Shahpur. During the ensuing chase, the speeding motorcycle skidded and crashed, following which the accused allegedly opened fire at the police team, the officer said.
Asif, one of the accused suffered a bullet injury during the attempt and was arrested.
An illegal country-made pistol, one live cartridge, and one spent shell were recovered from each of the two accused, Asif and Adil. An unregistered motorcycle was also impounded she added.
Adil acquaintance of the accused is also an alleged wanted criminal in different cases at four different police stations
Eight cases involving charges of cow slaughter, assault, and Arms Act violations are registered against Asif, who was declared a wanted fugitive in a cow slaughter case lodged at Behat police station.
He is undegoing treatment at the primary health care centre she said adding that legal proceedings are underway against both the accused.
