Varanasi: In a swift intervention, Uttar Pradesh police busted a human trafficking and sexual abuse case involving a minor. According to police officials, a 12-year-old was reportedly traded for just Rs 16,000 and 10 sarees, subjecting her to continuous sexual assault for 4 months before being rescued.

The primary accused is identified as Lahru Yadav, a resident of Chanduali who allegedly met the victim and her mother during a train journey where the transaction was negotiated. Later in January, the deal was sealed and the former handed over her daughter to the accused. To escape suspision, the accused allegedly staged a fake marraige at a temple in the Chahnia area, police said.

Later, on May 19, the victim was abandoned by Yadav at Banaras railway station. ” The second accused, an auto driver hailing from Jharkhand, noticed her and on the pretext of offering help, took the victim to a secluded area near Sarnath and raped her, the police further revealed, details said.

The police were later informed by locals who noticed suspicious activity at his residence in Pahariya. The victim was recused and a case under the POSCO Act, rape and human trafficking was filed against all accused- Lalu Yadav, Ravi Verma and the mother.
