Petrol-Diesel Price Hike: Petrol and diesel have become expensive again. Oil companies have increased the prices of petrol and diesel. Petrol has become costlier by ₹2.61 and diesel by ₹2.71. Oil companies have increased the prices of petrol and diesel for the fourth time in 10 days. In this way, petrol and diesel have become costlier by about ₹8 in 10 days. The new rates have come into effect from 6 am today, i.e. 25 May. Petrol companies have cited losses due to the Iran war as the reason behind the price hike.

Not only standard petrol and diesel, but premium fuel prices have also risen at the same pace. XP95, which was priced at ₹106.63 per liter, rose to ₹109.24 on May 25. XG prices rose from ₹97.81 to ₹100.52 per liter.

With the hike, diesel which was earlier priced at Rs 92.49 per litre in Delhi, will now be sold at Rs 95.20 per litre from today. This means diesel has become costlier by Rs 2.71 per litre. Similarly, petrol which was earlier priced at Rs 99.51 per litre, has now increased to Rs 102.12 per litre today on 25th May. Petrol price in Mumbai today is Rs 111.21 per litre, which is slightly higher than yesterday’s rate of Rs 108.45. The lowest price of petrol here till date was Rs 103 per litre on 6th May.

It should be noted that petrol and diesel prices were first increased on May 15th, following the Middle East crisis. The price of both fuels was then increased by ₹3 per liter. This was followed by a 90-paise increase on May 19th. Last Saturday (May 23rd), oil prices were raised by 87 paise. Now, for the fourth time in 48 hours, petrol and diesel prices have been increased by more than ₹2. Thus, after four such increases, prices have risen by ₹7.50 per liter.
