Another scandal has risen on the comments of the BJP MP Faggan Singh Kulaste concerning the new terror attack in Delhi. Several days after the comments of the Higher Education Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Inder Singh Parmar were subject to criticism, the statement by Kulaste has also become viral on social media and elicited a harsh political response.

The event occurred as Kulaste was making a visit to the Mandla district where he was invited to a localized event. In response to the media about the Delhi terror attack, the BJP MP has said something that sparked outrage. He said, “The Delhi incident has occurred after a very long time. I do not know anything to say about the conspiracy. The accident is very traumatizing. It is neither good to any of us nor to the country.”

Many people took his use of language especially when he said the attack had happened after a long time as insensitive based on the severity of the situation. The leaders of the opposition were quick to respond claiming that the BJP MP was downplaying a national security threat.

The former Congress MLA Kunal Choudhary asked Kulaste to apologize. He said, “Faggan Singh Kulaste has to be apologetic. Can he be that casual in the comments he makes about a terror attack? This is an inexcusable statement. The BJP MP is talking of it taking place after a long gap because the country was attacked.”

Nonetheless, BJP leaders supported Kulaste. Former minister of the state Umashankar Gupta denied the criticism of the Congress as the opposition was merely dwelled on words and not intent. Gupta said that Congress should analyze the mood behind his words and not see the words literally. He also included that instances of occurrence during the Congress rule were common, but the party never apologised. He claimed that nitpicking over statements would not serve the interest of the country or the interest of Congress.
