Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta Dakaunda) in Jagraon, Ludhiana has announced a big protest on November 10 to save Punjab University, Chandigarh. This demonstration will take place in Chandigarh. The Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta Dakaunda) will participate in large numbers in the massive “Save University Morcha” demonstration scheduled for November 10th.

Leaders stated that this movement is not just about Punjab University, but about the entire state of Punjab, fighting for its identity and right to education. They urged people to join in large numbers and raise their voices against the central government’s anti-education policies.

The organization has accused the central government of working towards privatizing, commercializing, and saffronizing the country’s education system through the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Union leaders argue that this policy constitutes a conspiracy to deprive the majority of the country’s population of their right to education, and it will not be allowed to succeed under any circumstances.

On this occasion, the organization’s state president, Manjit Singh Dhaner, and vice president, Amandeep Singh, stated that the central government is continuously attempting to separate Panjab University from Punjab. They alleged that attempts are being made to eliminate the university’s autonomy. The government intends to dissolve the Senate and Syndicate of Panjab University and bring it directly under central control. They stated that such a move would not only be an attack on Punjab’s education system but also a violation of the state’s rights. They warned that the people of Punjab would not allow this alleged conspiracy to succeed under any circumstances.
