India’s batting failed yet again, as they were bundled out for 125 in the second T20I against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). While Abhishek Sharma contributed a commendable 65 from 39 balls, the rest of the Indian batting lineup proved ineffective, leaving plenty for Suryakumar Yadav and the batting unit to consider. Josh Hazlewood started quickly for Australia in the bowling department and set the early tone, while he also received strong support from the rest of the bowling attack.
Mitchell Marsh, the Australian captain, perhaps riding a wave of good fortune at tosses won it for the fifth straight match and sent India in to bat first. There was one change for Australia bringing in Matt Short, while India maintained with the same XI.
This match is almost a continuation to that old series, where they were to have started a four-match series at Canberra a few days earlier, but the first T20I was washed out after only 58 balls of play from rain. Mainly if we were to look at India’s past here at the MCG, it should bring back fond memories; it is nonetheless familiar territory for Australia and would present sufficient balance in favor of Australia against what should be an exciting contest under lights.
