People are inspired by Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s sacrifice, he remarked. “It gives me pleasure to announce that the movie “Chhava” based on the life & sacrifice of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, will be tax-free in Goa,” Sawant said in the post.

“The movie exploring the valor and courage of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj for Dev, Desh and Dharma, played by Vicky Kaushal, is bringing the glorious history to the screen. The sacrifice of the second Chhatrapati of the Hindavi Swarajya, who valiantly fought against Moghuls and the Portuguese, is an inspiration for all of us,” he added.

About Chhaava

Additionally, Mohan Yadav, the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, declared on Wednesday that the movie will not be subject to taxes in his state. Both states made the declaration on the 395th anniversary of the birth of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the father of Chhatrapati Sambhaji and the founder of the Maratha kingdom.

The film Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna, and Akshaye Khanna, is directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films. The film is an adaptation of Shivaji Sawant’s Marathi novel Chhaava. The film has received a positive response from both audiences and critics. Chhaava is on track to become the first Bollywood film to cross the ₹200 crore mark in 2025. The film has beaten the ₹112 crore mark of Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahadia’s Sky Force and has now become the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025.
