Ravichandran Ashwin’s special accolade will be honoured by the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) at its prestigious Naman Awards on Saturday. His brigade was recognised for his great contribution to Indian cricket. India lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test against Australia at the Gabba, Brisbane, in December 2024, and the veteran off-spinner announced his international retirement in the process. An illustrious career ended on Thursday as the 38-year-old concluded his tally as India’s second-highest wicket-taker after the legendary Anil Kumble.

BCCI Polly Umrigar Award for Best Male International Cricketer to Jasprit Bumrah, who was recently awarded the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year. Bumrah was a standout performer in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, claiming 32 wickets in five Tests and having a pivotal role in India’s success.

In the meantime, left-handed batter Smriti Mandhana has been given the Best International Cricketer of the Year (Female) award. Recently honoured by the ICC with Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year, she has had a tremendous 2024 calendar year, scoring 743 runs in the year.

Sarfaraz Khan and Asha Shobhana will be honoured with Best International Debut awards, courtesy of the men’s and women’s categories, respectively. India’s talented all-rounder, Deepti Sharma, will also receive the award for the most wickets in the 2023-24 season.

The grandeur is further boosted with the C.K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award being bestowed upon legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. The third rank of the ceremony was initially scheduled for Mumbai, a day prior to the fifth T20I between India and England at Wankhede Stadium.
