The District Magistrate of Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, Rajender Pensiya, affirmed on Thursday that the posters of the rioters involved in the violence that occurred on the 24th of November will be posted today. The calls incited violence while conducting a court-mandated aerial survey of the mosque; the government has named over 400 people in relation to the disturbances. Till now, 32 people have been arrested for the crime.

In an interview with a news agency, Pensiya said that the leaders of the peace committee were to have a meeting at 3 pm on Thursday to decide how many posters to put out. ”We are in the process of designing the poster, and it will be finalized today”, DM was quoted as saying, but those who have been arrested will not be part of the list whose posters will be posted.

The violence in Sambhal took place during an ASI investigation of a Mughal-era mosque that was conducted in compliance with a petition filed by a group in a lower court, according to the police. It stated that the mosque was constructed on the disputed pond where the deity Harihar was worshipped. The surveying caused tension and some anarchy as the police started fighting the local people. At least four people were killed in the attack, while several others were injured, among them policemen.

In the course of the investigation, the police are targeting to arrest the rest of the individuals implicated in the acts of violence. The change to posters is also in the larger campaign as the district administration works to restore order and get justice for the incidents.
