In his convocation address at Baramati, a well-versed Congressman and the national president of NCP Sharad Pawar has given a broad indication that he may not contest in the next parliamentary election.
Addressing a rally before the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Pawar said he still has a one-and-half-year term left in the Rajya Sabha. He signaled whether he would decide whether he wanted to seek another term after this one. “I will have to think whether to go to Rajya Sabha again,” the 84-year-old leader said, giving many a reason to discuss his further political career.
Sharad Pawar was in a campaign for his grandnephew Yugendra Pawar against his uncle Ajit Pawar for the assembly election slated for November 20. This election is extremely important – for the Pawar family and all stakeholders who want Maharashtra to have a competitive political system.
Indeed, Sharad Pawar deserves a place in the annals of the history of state and national politics because he has remained one of the prominent politicians in the Indian politics for the last five and half decades. His possible exit from parliamentary politics may bring widespread changes throughout the state’s political structure, especially as the NCP prepares for the crucial state assembly polls.
People supporting Pawar and the party are looking forward to his speeches to get some hints on his long-term strategy from his years of experience. He also addressed the deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, paying tribute to his efforts for Baramati,. He said it is time for a new generation to build Baramati over the next thirty years.
Furthermore, Sharad Pawar discussed the issues observed in the recent battle for Baramati Lok Sabha seat where the contest was among family members. He said the same sentiment would be true in the coming elections this year; people would turn to the State and the Pawar family’s own political battles.
